Youngster wins stop smoking poster competition

17 February 2014

A creative youngster showed off her art skills and won first prize for her stop smoking poster. Aditi Banerjee, eight, won the prize as part of a competition organised by Smokefreelife Berkshire. The pupil of Ryvers Primary School in Langley came top in the competition with her poster, which warns of the impact smoking can have. Grandmother Dolly Bhaskaran said: “I felt very proud when I saw my little girl hopping and going to collect the award. It was a surprise for me and her. We knew she won something. But we did not know that she won first prize.” Judge Dr Lisa McNally, Stop Smoking lead for Berkshire, said: “Aditi’s poster invites us to look into the future. She contrasts a happy, healthy life with the illness and sadness that smoking so often brings. The poster also reminds us that we are in control and that it’s up to us to make a choice about smoking.” The competition took place in Reading on Tuesday, January 28.
