Solutions 4 Health, in partnership with Slough Borough Council launched Cardiowellness 4 Slough- a new Integrated Cardiac disease prevention service. The launch kicked off with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm from both the Solutions 4 Health team members and the Slough population. On the day, a total of 24 NHS Health checks and 29 brief assessments were carried out, with 52 referrals made to various lifestyle services across Slough.
The service provides One stop shop for healthy lifestyle information and guidance for Slough residents. The aim of the service is to empower and support people, who might be at a risk of developing heart disease by enabling and motivating them to address lifestyle issues such as smoking, achieving a healthy weight, increasing physical activity and drinking harmful amounts of alcohol. The service will evaluate and screen individuals to identify risk factors; which may result in an opportunity to be referred to a local lifestyle service.
A fascinating atmosphere and mood of Caribbean surroundings was created by the Raspo Steel Band and was followed by the Wesleyan Holiness Church Gospel Choir. The Slough residents also enjoyed the laughter filled entertainment, face painting and cupcakes, which rapidly ran out!
It was lovely to get the feedback from one the service user- Steve;
“I find all these services are vitally important, especially when they’re on your doorstep like today. You will always find out something new which might save you a trip to the GP.”
A range of guest speakers also shared their veritable enthusiasm about this much-needed service for Slough residents. The guest speakers included:
- Roger Parkin – Strategic Director of Customer & Community Services, Slough Borough Council
- Dr Nithya Nanda – Slough CCG Diabetes & Cardiology Lead, Farnham Road Practice
- Councillor Sabia Hussain – Slough Borough Council
- Kishore Sankla – CEO, Solutions 4 Health
- Councillor Ishrat Shah – Deputy Mayor of Slough
- Angela Snowling – Assistant Director of Public Health Slough Borough Council
A big thank you to all our guest speakers for supporting us, and more importantly to the people of Slough. We look forward to supporting a healthier Slough! We had such a good day launching the CardioWellness4Slough service that we put together a video to show everyone what went on!
