A Hearty Boost to Slough’s Health
CardioWellness 4 Slough is a new cardiovascular disease prevention programme commissioned by Slough Borough Council and is being provided by Solutions4Health, a Berkshire based organisation that provides services designed to maximise health and wellbeing.
The service provides information and support for people to make better lifestyle choices and take control of their health.
The service aims to empower people who might be at a risk of developing heart disease by enabling and motivating them to address lifestyle issues such as smoking, achieving a healthy weight, increasing physical activity and drinking too much alcohol. The service will assess and screen individuals to identify risk factors which may result in an opportunity to be referred to a local lifestyle service.
Support will be delivered by trained staff and will be available in multiple local community settings. The service will offer free NHS Health Checks, healthy lifestyle workshops and weight management services.
The service works closely with GPs and other health professionals, community and voluntary organisations to ensure maximum reach to the residents of Slough.
To celebrate the launch of this exciting new service, an event will take place at Slough Town Square (by the entrance to the Queensmere Shopping Centre) on the 21st January from 10 – 4pm.

Leena Sankla, Director of Public Health & Lifestyle Services at Solutions 4 Health said: “We are pleased to be the new provider of this innovative service for Slough and are keen to give people the best possible chance of reducing their risk factors for heart disease. We look forward to contributing to Slough’s wider aims of helping more people to actively manage their own health, through partnership working with local services and organisations, integrating the wider Public Health agenda into our work.”
CardioWellness 4 Slough supports positive change for the increasing number of adults who are at risk of developing a long term condition primarily due to their lifestyle behaviours.
Councillor Sabia Hussain, Commissioner For Health and Social Care, Slough Borough Council, said: “We are really pleased that through the Better Care Fund we are able to offer a cardiovascular disease prevention programme in Slough. We know how important the previous Healthy Hearts initiative was to residents and wanted to provide something similar – a service that targets those at risk and works with them to manage their own health and well-being needs”
