We are delighted to announce that our functional rehabilitation class delivered in partnership wit Dynamic Health, in Urdu for South Asian women in Peterborough, won the outstanding achievement award in the BAME Health and Care Awards 2021.
The National BAME Health & Care Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of BAME staff and support networks from across the health and care fields in making significant improvements in career development. This includes exceptional initiatives and leadership, and the improvement of services, or access to services for people from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.
The sessions successfully:
– Improved communication between therapists and patients
– Reduced chronicity of musculoskeletal conditions
– Prevented recurrent referrals back into the service
This is an achievement for both services and a good example of partnership working to provide much needed services for the BAME community.
Cheryl Cole, Editor at Diversity Q said: “The winner stood out due to its clear evidence of the health benefits for South Asian women patients, one of the most marginalised groups in the community. The winner and their colleagues’ approach to shaping a service which was sensitive to the needs of this group as well as to the challenges of the pandemic is highly innovative and will hopefully encourage this team and their partner organisations to adopt similar approaches to tackling other aspects of health inequalities”.
