We are proud to announce that we worked in partnership with Dynamic Health (NHS physiotherapists) to provide functional rehabilitation sessions, for South Asian women in Peterborough. Healthy Peterborough together with Dynamic Health NHS have been shortlisted in two categories for the BAME Health and Care Awards: Best Community Initiative and Outstanding Achievement.
The National BAME Health & Care Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of BAME staff and support networks from across the health and care fields in making significant improvements in career development. This includes exceptional initiatives and leadership, and the improvement of services, or access to services for people from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.
We helped to design an exercise programme for south Asian women across five sessions, which were delivered in Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi. The pilot programme consisted of five cohorts, with a maximum of six patients per group. The final session was run in collaboration with Dynamic Health, an NHS service working in musculoskeletal care and pelvic health physiotherapy across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
The sessions successfully:
– Improved communication between therapists and patients
– Reduced chronicity of musculoskeletal conditions
– Prevented recurrent referrals back into the service
