The Berkshire wide stop smoking service has been recognised by the BHF for helping an entire family to quit smoking earlier this year as a result of their No Smoking Day Campaign.
Smokefreelife Berkshire has been placed runner-up for Best Photo in the No Smoking Day Organiser of the Year Award. The photo, entered in the competition shows the ‘Slade’ family, Judy Slade, Paul Slade, Natasha Slade and Chris Byrne who quit smoking after 12 weeks of tailored support.
Judy Slade explained: “I was the first to quit, but soon after my brother, sister-in-law and son joined me. Every Saturday, we’d go in together to get support. I’m extremely proud of my family for making the commitment and sticking to it.”
Saleen Ahmed-Khan, Berkshire Health Improvement Manager, said: “Smokefreelife Berkshire organised and promoted No Smoking Day across the county.”
“We are extremely proud to receive this recognition from the British Heart Foundation, as our aim has always been to engage in innovative ways with all communities, and offer an excellent service throughout their quit period, and celebrate their success. This is what was captured in our photo with our Advisor Aga Kaplon and the Slade family.”
Smokefreelife Berkshire will be supporting No Smoking Day 2015 which will be held on 11 March. Next year’s theme is ‘Proud to be a Quitter’ which will highlight the success of ex-smokers and their motivations for quitting.
